Food Industry

If you are a packer, canner, manufacturer or grower of food, and wish to donate your product to feed needy orphans, contact Judd to arrange transport.

In many cases, we can arrange for one of our volunteer truckers to pick up the goods; sometimes the donor agrees to help with freight to San Diego.

Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act

Donors who contribute food to charities are protected from civil and criminal liability resulting from injury or illness resulting from such food, so long as the liability is not a result of an intentional act or of gross negligence. This federal law is intended to encourage the donation of apparently wholesome food by removing liability imposed by the individual states.

Tax Advantage

Food donations may be eligible for tax deductions up to twice your cost of production. Consult with your tax professional for IRS treatment pursuant to the Good Samaritan Hunger Relief Tax Incentive Act (IRC 170 (e)(3)).
