Hilarious Givers
The Lord loves a cheerful giver

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

Hilarious Givers serves orphanages, daycare facilities, church outreach programs, day camps, senior rest homes and other organizations in Mexico which serve needy children and their families. There is no shortage of need among the working poor and the abandoned, just minutes from one of the most affluent communities in the world.

Currently, we serve more than 30 missions. There are approximately 4,000 children within our ministry who are being fed nutritious food. Mothers are learning nutrition, sanitation, and the Good News of the Bible. Ministers are being encouraged and supported, and families are being strengthened. Our reach extends from the metropolis of Tijuana as far south as the seaside town of San Quintin and east to the state of Sonora.

We receive support from several international food outreach programs around the country, and have been blessed by corporate sponsors who provide warehouse space in two facilities near the international border crossings at San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, both just south of metropolitan San Diego. Trucks arrive regularly from around the U.S., and loads are dispatched several times per month to our supported programs.

Our mission is to engage with American churches and philantrophic organizations in serving the 'least among us' through the sharing of our bounty with truly disadvantaged children just minutes from affluent San Diego, California. We presently serve a population of approximately 4,000 children, in cooperation with more than 30 orphanages, churches and other feeding outreaches in the states of Northern Baja California and Sonora, Mexico.

A word from our founder:

I have had a richly varied life - full of experiences, both good and bad.

I am proud of my service to my country in the United States Navy; service which brought me from a being teenager without much of a sense of direction, to a maturation as a responsible leader, seasoned by several wartime tours to waters off Viet Nam, humanitarian missions to bring relief and salvation to typhoon victims, shipwreck survivors, downed aviators - and the list goes on. Some of my navy experiences were delightful, others horrific. But each of them contributed to making me the person I am now.

I have been the president of corporations, an officer in others. I practiced law in the second largest city in California, representing both the favored and the disadvantaged with equal fervor, for nearly 15 years.

I have been given the gift of being employed to train professional employees of the State of California in the intricacies of the Unemployment Insurance Code so that they may best serve those California workers who find themselves unemployed through no fault of their own.

But one day, not long ago, I experienced a truly life-changing episode. I was serving as a volunteer in a one-day mission to Baja California. It was Dia de los Ninos, "Childrens' day" in Mexico.  I took the time to look - really look - into the face of a young boy to whom I had just given a pair of shoes. Those grimy feet, the distended stomach, and most of all, the open, trusting eyes just wrenched my heart. And then it occurred to me - this was not just the best day of this year for him, but the best day of his young life. And all it took was a donated pair of shoes, loving hands to wash his feet, a hot, nutritious meal, and the love of a stranger filled with the Grace of God.

Thus was born Hilarious Givers.

Now, a few months later, through the generosity of corporate sponsors, tireless volunteer time from Christians in my life, and the seizing of God-given opportunities, we find ourselves with a virtually limitless supply of food. Food which will nourish needy children living on our national doorstep, and will be used to proclaim the Grace and Glory of Jesus Christ through giving from our affluence.
